I just remembered something that happened when I was in Arizona visiting my family. We all met at a picnic area on the side of a mountain so that everyone could get together at one place. It's a lovely place and there is plenty of room for the children to play and the adults to spread out food and chat. I kept hearing people mention a certain name that I didn't recognize at all, so after several times I finally went to my daughter-in-law and asked who that person was. She looked at me oddly for just a moment before she went on to explain who this family member is that I should know....., but I didn't. I didn't cry at the time and didn't even tell my husband but, well, here's another painful reminder that I usually choose to ignore.
