Sugar and Alzheimer's

News to me. A friend sent me some information that high intakes of sugar could be a cause of dementia and Alzheimer's. Now, as a life long sugar addict, this could indeed be a possible factor. When I worked at a school, Friday's were "doughnut day" and I was know to consume four or five doughnuts in one day! If I have a choice between a steak and an ice cream cone, well, ice cream would win every time. Growing up I never drank milk (hence, osteoporosis) but rather heavily sweetened ice tea. Saturday's were the best. A trip to the bakery where we loaded up on pastries and crumb cake to overfill the bread box. Chocolate chip cookies fresh or just dry from the box have been my salad, and Snickers, well don't even get me started.
So, I suppose it may have been a factor. But, from what I am reading it can "lead" to Alzheimer's. Refraining from sugar can't cure Alzheimer's...... NOTHING can. So, pass me a doughnut.
And, on a lighter note. Hubby, Cassidy, and I spent a delightful day at the beach in Corpus Christi. Even though it was raining when we got there, I had my trusty rain poncho so off we went. It was my first trip to the Texas coast and I can't wait to go again!
