Why Fake Alzheimer's

A friend recently posted on her blog that people actually accused her of faking Alzheimer's. What? She, quite rightly, blocked them. Sometimes you just have to wonder what is wrong with people. Unfortunately, people just look at the final stages and assume that all people with any disease are there or should get their very quickly in order to make claims that they have that affliction. So, if someone with cancer doesn't die in their timeline, then they probably don't have cancer? Such rubbish. I get tired myself of having to try to convince people that I actually have dementia. Do people with cancer have to prove it? My friend felt the need to apologize for not showing her issues. Ha. We, with any problems, become quite adept at hiding that from others. We put on a brave front. We don't show our weaknesses. Does that mean we don't hurt any less? Ask my poor husband who has to deal with me daily if I have Alzheimer's. As me when I am so frustrated that I literally scream to help deal with the anger and fear. But, mostly I just seem normal, so far anyway.

So, if someone tells you they have dementia or Alzheimer's the proper response might be something like "I'm glad to see you still doing so well." Or, "If you hadn't told me, I would have never guessed." Not," I don't believe you. They made a mistake. See another doctor."

On a lighter note. My glasses, long delayed because of the holidays and the weather, appear to be on the way. I can hardly remember what it is to be able to see clearly.

And, my Christmas Cactus, confused about when Christmas was this year, is finally blooming. I do suppose it may have been delayed over the trauma of a curious new kitty.

Kitties love to have fun.
